Day to day responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of Digital Image Correlation (DIC) techniques for mechanical testing and analysis.
  • Execute, and communicate reliability assessments, testing, understanding.
  • Support the daily operation of the mechanical testing lab, glass strengthening process need
  • Design and conduct experiments for mechanical testing on glass as a component or within a device.
  • Analyze results; document, communicate with internal & external customers, including formal presentation.
  • Develop and improve experiment protocols based on requirement
  • Utilize or build new experimental setups for collecting data
  • Support equipment qualification tests.
  • Provide direct support to the existing Corning business in customers support and new platform business development.
  • Support projects related to mechanical performance of glass and characterization; making recommendations to projects to improve functional performance and reliability
  • Support to provide technical consultation and expertise to the commercial organization and/or directly with customers.

Required Skills:

  • Master degree or above. Major in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science or a related engineering field with minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Mechanics of materials, failure mechanisms of brittle materials, fracture mechanics, reliability science (at least one of these areas.)
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering, statistical analyses, and hands-on testing
  • Proficiency in Digital Image Correlation (DIC) techniques and mechanical testing methods, with a strong understanding of material science principles, particularly related to glass.
  • Experience in designing and executing experiments, including developing and refining protocols to meet specific testing requirements.
  • Experience in mechanical modeling/simulation.
  • Solid experience of working in a lab.
